Manali (2050 m, 6700 ft) is a natural paradise amidst the lap of Himalayas. Tourists visit Manali to enjoy the cool climate and the mesmerizing beauty of nature. It is a centre for adventure sports like mountaineering, trekking, biking, skiing, paragliding, river rafting etc.

Solang valley (2560 m, 8400 ft) is an enchanting Valley located13 km northwest of the resort town of Manali. It is a popular ski resort due to its beautiful giant slopes that offer immense skiing opportunities. A few ski agencies offer courses and equipment and operate during winters. A ropeway located at the base offers a ride to the top of the ski slopes, which otherwise was possible only by climbing/trekking.

All the trekking and mountaineering expeditions to the BeasKund area and nearby area like Brighu Lake, Patalsu peak pass through Solang and therefore it offers an ideal starting point.

As the snow melts in the beginning of April/May, skiing is replaced by trekking and other adventure sports.

How to Reach

By Air: Bhuntar, which is 52 km away from Manali, is the nearest airport. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali, which costs about Rs. 700- Rs1000. Bhuntar is well connected to Delhi by air.

By Road: Manali is well connected to Delhi/Chandigarh. Take an overnight bus from Delhi and you will reach Manali in 12/14 hours. Tickets can be booked online at www.redbus.in, www.hptdc.gov.in or www.hrtc.gov.in .Since Delhi – Manali is a long journey most Volvo private buses leave Delhi between 5 pm and 6 pm. The last govt bus leaves at 8.30 pm from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Manali to Delhi

Likewise, buses leave from Manali to Delhi between 4 and 5 p.m. Your tentative arrival at Delhi may be anywhere between 6 a.m and 10 a.m.


The climate in Manali is predominantly cold during winter and moderately cool during summer. The average temperatures range from 4◦C to (39◦ F) to 26◦ C (79◦ F) over the year. The average temperature during summer is between 10◦C (50◦ F) and 26◦ C (79◦ F) and in winter between -15◦ C (4◦F) and (54◦ F).

Monthly rainfall varies between 31 mm (1.2 in) in November to 217 mm (8.5 in) in July. Average some 45mm (1.8 in) of rainfall is received during winter and spring months, increasing to 115 mm (4.5in) in summer as monsoon approaches. The months of July and August Manali experiences highest rainfall.

Manali experiences snowfall between December and March, It is usually the highest in the month of January.

As one goes to higher altitudes the temperatures fall lower and lower.

Rates for treks, tours, stays, expeditions

The rates for the rooms at snow nest will vary from Rs.600/- to Rs. 2000/- as per the season, room, duration of stay. For treks and expeditions the room charges are inclusive of the trek expedition charges. The rates for the treks/ expeditions will vary from Rs.2000/- to Rs.5000/- per day per person, depending on number of participants, duration and difficulty levels. Ideal group would be 5 to 6 persons or multiples thereof. But we would entertain even a single participant.

The rates for taxi tours and rates adventure sports like paragliding, river rafting etc. will be comparable/ as per the rates prescribed by the respective union/ associations.
